• Devise a code word to use with your children, family, friends, & neighbors when you need police.

• Make a plan where you will go if you leave.

• Use your best instincts & judgment to keep yourself safe.

You Have Legal Rights.

You may ask for a criminal complaint with the District Attorney General.

You may request an Order of Protection, which can: prevent the abuser from further abuse; require the abuser to leave your home; prevent the abuser from harassing, stalking, or contacting you; give you custody of or visitation with your minor child(ren); require the abuser, after a court hearing, to financially support you & your minor children if the abuser has a legal obligation to do so.
